International Dot Day

 International Dot Day

In September, Western Elementary celebrated International Dot Day! Students in grades K-6 created dot artwork based on the story "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds. Kindergartners created dot collages. First grade made drawings where they began with a dot and then turned it into something. Second grade created collages that began with four dots and they made their dots into something. Third grade made zentangles that centered around dots. Fourth graders incorporated 3D techniques into their dot artworks. Fifth and sixth grade transformed 9 dots into objects for our collaborative dot mural. All grades also were given 1/4 of a dot to decorate for another collaborative dot mural.
